3 All Wheel Drive Vehicles to Consider

AWD vehicles are here to stay. The all weather performance of having all wheel drive (AWD) is making the choice to purchase one more attractive. There are so many types and styles to choose from in the modern marketplace. No longer is an AWD associated only with the 4-wheel drive market of large, heavy, fuel eating frames. With this in mind take a look at three different models and types of AWD vehicles.

The first will be the upscale 2011 Mercedes CL550 Coupe. If you thought AWD was only for sedate styles – think again. From the pillar-less profile, to the twin turbochargers, to the 429-hp 4.6-liter V-8, this classy coupe has all the bells and whistles of the world class coupe that it is with road-grabbing AWD by way of the Electronic Stability Program. This technology allows the car to stay in control as at the first sign of wheel slippage engages the 4-Wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS) and begins a seamless and smooth transfer of power to the wheels still having traction evenly. We could talk also about the braking system which is so smart it dries your brakes when you are using the windshield-wipers and even moves the brake pads closer to the rotors when you quickly remove your foot from the accelerator in preparation for emergency braking – all in the twinkling of an eye. The features here are simply amazing and exquisite. This world-class coupe also comes with a world-class MSRP of $113,150.00 excluding tax, title, licence, and transportaion and dealer fees.

The next of the AWD vehicles we will look at is the 2011 Ford Flex Titanium AWD. This showy ride starts at $45,185.00 and has some great features to consider. Okay, the Flex looks very different, it would be advisable to sit behind the wheel and then decide – that is where you will spend most of your time anyway. The powerful 335 horsepower engine still has a respectable 16 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway fuel rating. The list of amenities and features is endless. We will mention the keyless entry system, a climate control which boasts dual zone temperature controls, both driver and passenger will be spoiled with heated seats, cruise control and all power in the cockpit and passenger compartments, and wood trim throughout Then the goodies get fun with Bluetooth technology, built in iPod controls, a Sony Premium audio/stereo system complete with 12 surround speakers along with satellite radio to boot.

The last vehicle we will look at is the 2011 Chevrolet Traverse All Wheel Drive crossover. It provide moderate power with the 6-speed automatic transmission. It is a mid-market priced vehicle at MSRP $29,370.00 to over $40,000.00. The fuel range is between 16 MPG to 24 MPG. This is classified as a crossover and has been awarded the 5-star safety rating. This nimble vehicle can hold up to eight persons and has the largest cargo space available in its class. The Chevrolet Traverse is a good choice for the family due to its passenger capacity, affordability, and the versatility provided with the ample cargo area.
